Families

  • The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) teaches–and has caregivers and youth practice–skills involved in bonding (creating warm, loving relationships), setting clear, firm boundaries, and monitoring their children’s emotional well-being and activities. Skill practice creates new prosocial habit patterns in the brain, which help improve behavior, strengthen the parent-child relationship, and help a child feel loved.

Over the course of 10 sessions, families will learn skills to:

    • Increase family bonding

    • Increase parental involvement

    • Increase positive parenting skills

    • Increase positive communication

    • Increase family organization

    • Decrease family conflict

    • Decrease youth depression
